Flatstock 13

Nate Duval - Flastock 13 poster
Not exactly Pearl Jam related, but something we dig here at Single Blog Theory: FLATSTOCK! I'll be headed up to Chicago and the Pitchfork Music Festival this weekend to help poster artist Rob Warnick with his booth at Flatstock, volunteering at the API booth and catch some great music. You can follow along too, as we'll be blogging along the way. Armed with cameraphones, laptops and free WiFi all weekend at Flatstock, we'll be sharing all the good stuff right here.

The Flatstock 13 poster pictured above is by Nate Duval.

More PJ DVD news

Pearl Jam in Pistoia, Italy
Billboard has some details on the upcoming Pearl Jam DVD, thus confirming it in a mainstream sense.

Details are still coming together at deadline, but it seems a sure bet that Pearl Jam fans will have a new live DVD via Rhino to play on repeat before the holidays are out.

It is well-known that photographer Danny Clinch filmed the band's concerts in Italy in the fall of 2006, which included such oddities as a complete, in-sequence performance of Pearl Jam's self-titled J album in Torino and a cover of Tom Waits' "Picture in a Frame" in Milan. This will be Pearl Jam's first concert DVD since 2003's "Live at the Garden," which hit No. 2 on Billboard's Top Music Videos chart.

As previously reported, frontman Eddie Vedder has penned a host of new songs that will be released in conjunction with the upcoming movie "Into the Wild" in September via J Records. Pearl Jam's lone remaining show of the summer will be at Lollapalooza in Chicago on Aug. 5.

Vedder solo album

Eddie Vedder
From ContactMusic.com:

PEARL JAM frontman EDDIE VEDDER is to release his first solo album as a film soundtrack for pal SEAN PENN's new movie INTO THE WILD. The Alive rocker has reportedly written solo tracks for the actor/director's new film, which stars Emile Hirsch. Oscar-winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla has also contributed to the film's score. The project, which will hit cinemas in September (07), is based on John Krakauer's novel about Alaskan adventurer Christopher MCCandless. Much of the film was shot in Vedder's adopted hometown of Seattle, Washington and the rocker reportedly makes a cameo in the movie. Vedder previously wrote songs for the film Dead Man Walking and covered The Beatles' You've Got To Hide Your Love Away for I Am Sam - both films starred Penn.

This news is also posted at Rolling Stone.
