The Who Tragedy

US Bank Arena is not a bad little place to see a show it's not as big as some arena out there like Quick Loans Arena in Cleveland or Nationwide Arena in Columbus, but it's a heck of a lot nicer than The Sports Arena in Toledo. The arena (then called Riverfront Coliseum) is of course the site of the infamous Who Tragedy where 11 concert goers where trampled to death when the gates opened to the general admission show. More on this fateful night can be found here. Given Pearl Jam's history with Roskilde and Ed's love for The Who, I think we will some sort of tribute to the 11 who died and the many that were hurt in the stampede.

Even in 1979, Cincinnati was no stranger to tragic deaths at an entertainment venue. Just two years earlier, 165 people died in at Beverly Hills Supper Club when a fire erupted while the club was full of patrons. More on that tragedy can be found in this Cincinnati.Com special section. The site of the former Beverly Hills Supper Club is just a few miles from the CCFA Pre-Party at the Beer Sellar in Newport and US Bank Arena.
